Please carefully review and agree to the waiver form before purchasing a ticket. This form and accompanying information will be available at the end of the booking process. The Foundation for Montana History will not allow anyone on the tours if a waiver is not confirmed beforehand. Review the full waiver by clicking here.

Any tour participant's ticket must be booked by the time the tour is set to begin. The ticket portal will remain open for 15 minutes after the tour is set to begin to accommodate any last-minute bookings. The website’s booking portal will automatically close a tour reaches the booking limit. Guides are not permitted to accept cash as a valid form of payment for a tour bookings.

If a pre-booked party does not show at the designated tour start time, it is their responsibility to reach out to us to discuss a partial refund. The guide is instructed to wait 5 minutes for any late parties. The guide will begin the tour if the 5 minute waiting period is eclipsed.

Cancellations made 24 hours* before the scheduled start time will receive a full refund. Cancellations made with-in 24 hours will not be granted a refund. "Extenuating circumstances" cancellations are handled on a case-by-case basis; please contact Zach at helenahistorytours@gmail.com or call 406-202-8196 if you have an extenuating circumstance cancellation.​*Special events or private tours may require additional cancellation time. Private tour fees are non-refundable. 

• If rain, snow, or extreme wind is on the forecast or evident near a tour’s start time, the tour guide will ask the group if anyone is willing to go. If some or all say yes, the tour will proceed at the guide’s discretion.

• If thunder is heard 10 minutes before a tour is set to begin, the tour will be canceled. If thunder is heard at any point during the tour, the guide has the right to end the tour. Refunds will be issued unless the tour is close to its conclusion.

• If the weather forecast predicts temperatures under 30 degrees, the guide will cancel the tour (it can happen, even in the summer!).

• If the temperature exceeds 100 degrees, the tour will be at the guide and visitor's discretion.

• If a participant decides to opt out of a tour before it is set to begin for any weather-related concerns, they will have the choice to either get a full refund or reschedule their tour to a future date.

We ask that all guests agree to comply with all The Foundation for Montana History rules, including those given verbally and in writing, and to participate in presentations of any safety material, such as reviews on walking safety, which may be designed and offered to promote safety in Foundation activities and adventures. By attending our tours, you agree to follow all other written and verbal trip safety rules presented by The Foundation.

We advise bringing a water bottle, wearing appropriate footwear, and appropriate attire while touring. It is participant’s responsibility to ensure that these are in working order. Please bring any other necessary equipment such as inhalers, walking sticks, umbrellas, rain coats, backpacks, etc. 

The Foundation for Montana History reserves the right to make route and trip modifications as necessary or advisable to improve the trip quality and/or accommodate the comfort and well-being/safety of participants and the provider.

The Foundation reserves the right to decline to accept or retain any tour participant whose health or actions in Foundation activities in its sole judgment impedes the operation of a trip or the welfare, safety or enjoyment of the participants or provider. 

I understand the nature of a tour and represent that I am qualified to participate in such activity. I further acknowledge and accept that it is my responsibility to consult with my own personal physician about my physical health, fitness, and ability to participate in the walking tour and will do so before participating in the trip. 

Guest acknowledges that as a participant in Helena History Tours, guest has been advised to obtain medical, travel and trip cancellation insurance. 

I consent, authorize and grant The Foundation for Montana History all necessary authority, right, license, and permission to use photographs, audio and/or video recordings, or other forms of recordings that capture my image, likeness, and/or voice (or all of these) which are associated with my trip, (collectively hereinafter referred to as "images"), in which I may be included in whole or in part, in any manner or media, including print, broadcast, Internet media, direct marketing channels, downloadable content and applications, and all other technologies now known or hereafter developed. The images may be used or exploited for any commercial or non-commercial purpose whatsoever and may be altered, modified, changed, combined, or incorporated into other works. I hereby relinquish any rights that I may have in the Images; (including privacy, personality, and publicity rights). No fees or other compensation whatsoever will be provided to me for or in connection with the use of the Images. I release TFMH their respective licensees, assigns, representatives, and agents from any and all claims which I may now or in the future have relating to the ownership, reproductions, display, distribution, or other use of the Images. 

For the safety and comfort of our guides and other guests and due to the historical significance of our sites, pets are not allowed on tours or hikes. Service dogs as approved by the Americans with Disabilities Act are permitted; however, emotional support, comfort, or companion pets are not allowed.​

For the safety and comfort of our guides and other guests, we do not permit smoking (including e-cigarettes) on tours or hikes. The Foundation for Montana History reserves the right to request a guest leave a tour or hike if they are smoking. ​​​​

As a guest we encourage you to take souvenir photos but request you do not film tours and hikes. Please be aware of your surroundings when walking and stopping to listen on each tour. If you choose to take pictures, do not walk backwards to get something in the shot as it may cause you to fall or bump into another tour attendant. 

Please put your cell phone on silent while on a tour so as not to interrupt the guide. We understand you may need to take an urgent call; if you do so, please be courteous to the guide and other guests and step away from the group and speak quietly. 

Please enjoy but do not destroy cultural heritage! Feel free to take pictures, but leave artifacts in place for others to observe. Any person who, without official permission, excavates, removes, appropriates, or vandalizes any historic or prehistoric ruin, artifact, or archaeological resource is subject to substantial penalties. Please do not litter as trash receptacles are infrequent on both the hike and walks.​
